ALL YOU WHO HAVE BEEN BAPTIZED INTO CHRIST HAVE PUT ON CHRIST. ALLELUIA! ВИ, ЩО У ХРИСТА ХРЕСТИЛИСЯ, У ХРИСТА ЗОДЯГНУЛИСЯ! The practice of inviting a priest to bless one’s home is not as prevalent as it used to be. Maybe it is another sign of the times. Regardless, it is important to bless your home! By blessing every room, nook and cranny of the place where you live is significant for a number of reasons. It says “This home belongs to God. God is with us at all times!” It is a real spiritual cleansing and renewal of your home. So much can happen over a year and a home blessing is like a fresh start. It is also a request from our Lord to watch over your home and protect the place and especially everyone who lives there and visits. When you are blessing your home, make peace with your family and friends. Pray together, sing some carols and or the Tropar (see below) and even make an event of it with a meal or snack. Remember, at the Jordan, the Holy Trinity was revealed: Father (Voice), Son (Jesus) and Holy Spirit (Dove). Jesus began his ‘public ministry’ and the world was never the same! Let your home blessing be a manifestation of God to you and your family and guests. Let love in your home be renewed and celebrated! Tropar: When You, O Lord, were baptized in the Jordan, * worship of the Trinity was revealed; * the voice of the Father bore witness to You, * Naming You the beloved Son, * and the Spirit in the form of a dove confirmed the word’s certainty. * Glory to You, O Christ God, * who appeared and enlightened the world. The Year 2021 marks the 150th anniversary of St. Joseph being declared patron of the universal church. Pope Francis has proclaimed a yearlong celebration dedicated to the foster father of Jesus. Pope Francis’ Prayer to Saint Joseph Hail, Guardian of the Redeemer, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary. To you God entrusted his only Son; in you Mary placed her trust; with you Christ became man. Blessed Joseph, to us too, show yourself a father and guide us in the path of life. Obtain for us grace, mercy and courage, and defend us from every evil. Amen.
