Glory To Jesus Christ!  Glory Forever!

May God bless us, keep us safe, and continue giving us the strength we need to handle the difficulties we’re facing.

THE PROTECTION OF THE MOTHER OF GOD The Church celebrates the Feast of the Protection of the Mother of God on October 1/14. Through this feast we celebrate the appearance of the Mother of God in Constantinople in the tenth century. The account of this appearance is found in the life of St. Andrew, known as the Fool for Christ. During services in the Church of Blachernes, St. Andrew and his disciple, St. Epiphanius, saw the Mother of God approach the ambo (in an early Christian church). She was supported by St. John the Baptist and St. John the Evangelist, and accompanied by many Saints. Here she knelt in prayer, Her face bathed in tears. After praying again at the altar, She took Her veil and extended it over the people as a sign of her protection. On the icon the Mother of God is seen standing above the faithful. Her arms, outstretched in prayer, are draped with a veil. Angels are pictured on both sides. St. Andrew and St. Epiphanius are shown on the lower right of the Icon. St. Andrew, dressed only in a cloak, gestured in astonishment at the miraculous appearance. In the centre of the church, a young man with a halo, clothed in a deacon’s sticharion, is holding in his left hand an open scroll with the text of the Christmas Kontakion in honour of the Mother of God. He is St. Romanos the Melodist, the famous hymnographer whose feast is also celebrated on October 1/14.

PEOPLE YOU MEET Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart. To handle yourself, use your head; To handle others, use your heart. Anger is only one letter short of danger. Great minds discuss ideas; Average minds discuss events; Small minds discuss people. God gives every bird its food, But He does not throw it into its nest. He who loses money, loses much; He who loses a friend, loses more; He who loses faith, loses all. Beautiful young people are acts of nature, but beautiful old people are works of art. Learn from the mistakes of others. You can't live long enough to make them all yourself. The tongue weighs practically nothing, but so few people can hold it. Friends, you and me.... you brought another friend... and then there were 3... we started our group... Our circle of friends... and like that circle... there is no beginning or end.

Divine Liturgy Schedule  Saturday - 5:30 pm Divine Liturgy in English  Sunday - 8:30 am Divine Liturgy in Ukrainian  We will return to the Regular Schedule the Weekend AFTER Thanksgiving Sunday:  Sat. 5:30 pm.  Sun. 9:00 am and 10:30 am

I find this prayer a good balance or alternative to those prayers and piety which make us into nothing but a worm deserving being squashed by God before being tossed into hell.  It is a prayer intending to comfort and give hope like we find in the Akathist: Glory to God for All Things:   “No one can put together what has crumbled into dust, but You, Lord, can restore a conscience turned to ashes. You can restore to its former beauty a soul lost and without hope. With You, there is nothing that cannot be redeemed. You are love; You are Creator and Redeemer. We praise You, singing: Alleluia!”
